Phantom of the Opera

Went to watch the final performance of this musical last night. It was very nice. The sets and costumes were just incredible, although the the flashing lights at the beginning, like huge flash bulbs going off, were very irritating and gave me a headache.

I still don't know how they got candles to rise up vertically from the stage. The water effect looked quite real too, although it seems like they used a whole lot of dry ice to cover the entire stage with the cloud like effect to simulate water.

It was a little like a magic show at some parts. Such as when the Phantom disappears in a flash of light and reappears at the top of a staircase. Near the end, he sits in a chair and covers himself in a cloak. I watched it the whole time and the cloak never moved. It even retained its shape. When one of the dance girls pulls the cloak away, the chair is empty.

Overall it was a great show. The singing was good, although I think the movie version of "Think of me" sounded sweeter. Don't mind watching it again next time.
