Saw a quote in they Sunday Times yesterday from a spokesman of Savills Singapore. "If he's not keen on the sale, does it matter if he's informed or not?"
This was regarding an en bloc sale where one of the owners involved was not willing to sell. Since they had an 80% majority, they went ahead and sold the place without telling him.
Link to story here. I'm not sure how long the link will be valid, but there it is.
The attitude of the spokesperson is appalling. Of course a home owner should be informed when his place his sold. Can you think of any reason why he should not have been informed? It's his place of residence, his home. You sell his home and don't tell him. Imagine that. I wonder what the spokesperson was thinking. Or perhaps he wasn't. Would he like the same thing to happen to him? Doesn't he consider the feelings of others? Or perhaps he only cares about the money which can be made. If that is the attitude of his company, they are seriously short on compassion and need to think about what they're doing. Perhaps he would only realise the implications of what he said if it happens to him someday.
I realise it is tricky to set laws on this because there will be minority owners who are just out to get more money. Still, it is just as reprehensible to sell someone's home without informing him, and defend the action in such a flippant manner.
