That's one hall activity for the year completed :( It means I now have 4 extra hours of free time every night, but I think I'll miss all the fun we had building all those sets from scratch. The Swingers boards, the beds, photoframes, futuristic looking tables, all built from scratch using wooden planks and metal bars. The hours spent cutting CDs into identical little rectangles, then pasting them onto the beds one by one. Measuring and cutting out large posters into identical sizes, then making photo frames for them. Building the 7 metre long Swingers board, sawing out the letters one by one, painting, outlining, wiring, tying all the light ropes to the board, all that work over the past 2 months. It was a lot of fun, although it took up a lot of time. Well done group 1 :)

The concert itself was great. All the seniors were blown away by it, they said it was one of the best productions in RH history. The music was very nice too, and there was a lot more of it compared to previous year's concerts. Heard that many were moved to tears by the scene near the end where Lisa left Howard. All this wouldn't have been possible without everyone working together. Seeing all that hard work over the past 2 months culminate into a spectacular performance is an experience that can't be put into words, but now I know what the seniors meant when they told us to join concert and experience the magic.

I ended up sleeping at 4am this morning, although the show ended at around 1040pm. We had to clear all the stuff out of UCC, that meant dismantling all the movable platforms, because they can't fit through the door. After we moved everything back to hall, we had take it all apart and move it into the sets room. There's now quite a lot of dismantled stuff there, waiting for the float people next year, haha. After packing up, we had a very long session where all the concert committee people thanked everyone else. It's kind of sad knowing that I won't be moving the sets around again, or hearing the songs sung live. It's an experience that can't be fully described here, but I have no regrets joining sets.

Well, less than 1 month to the final exams. Time to go study surface integrals, whatever those are.

UCC is my "home" for this week. Been spending all my free time there. At least when there's nothing to do we can sit there and study. Unfortunately there isn't any wireless access in most parts of the dressing room, so I had to bring lots of notes there to keep myself busy.

The past 3 days have been pretty slack, we just do our own thing till they need us to go move something, then we go back and do our own stuff again. Just had a sets rehearsal, where we practised the scene changes. The next few days will be a lot busier, the producer even forced us to use the excuse letter.

It's over, bah. Anyway, started it off by working overtime dismantling the platforms in preparation for the move to ucc on Monday. We were supposed to have fna project meeting too, but one of the members couldn't make it, they suggested Saturday afternoon, but as my room mate and I both wanted to go home, and I had stuff to do, we told them to meet some other time. Ugh Saturday afternoon. They both stay on campus and they're from other countries, so it's ok with them, but I miss my family.

Went out with my dad in the afternoon to test drive cars. Tried the Kia Rio and Cerato. They're both very basic, but we didn't like them. The biting point is high and for me to press the clutch fully I need to move the seat so forward that I end up too close to the steering wheel. It was quite an uncomfortable position.

After that we tried the Mitsubishi Lancer. That was much better, but it looks like my dad is still pretty keen on the Vios.

The only work I did this weekend was to study line integrals and print notes. For those who think I'm hardworking, studying does not equal understanding, haha. I brought my tutorials home and didn't do them in the end. chris, hock and one of chris' friends are coming for concert, yay!!

I realised I haven't blogged for a week. The past week has been really busy, just like any other actually, but next week will be worse. Concert is next week, so this week is our comm hall run. Basically we rehearse everything in hall. The rehearsals are every night, and the first time we did a full run they weren't happy and we had to redo act 2. That meant we only finished at around 1:30 am. By the time I slept it was nearly 3 am.

So I've finally got to watch the whole concert. It's pretty good. Whether you think this is an unbiased view is up to you. Thanks timo, his unknown friend, yh and ben for buying tickets :)

Next week's rehearsals will be at the actual venue itself. We've even been given an official letter to miss school. That's how busy it is. I'm hoping not to miss any lessons though.

Worked till 2 am in the morning, shifting the sets up for comm hall rehearsals next week. We had to fix our "futuristic" tables which were sagging. The original suggestion was to strengthen it by putting in more supports, but being the lazy bums we are, we decided to wedge little metal pieces into the crucial places to restore equilibrium.

We've moved all the movable platforms upstairs, as well as all the side props and backdrops. They were all quite heavy. Next week, we're going to have to dismantle the whole lot and move it to UCC.

Had a makeup lecture in the morning too, so I didn't get home till the afternoon. Now Saturday is gone and I haven't done any work. Going to celebrate chris' bday tomorrow, he said on his blog to steer clear of water bodies, haha.

Finally, after 2 weeks, my mid term tests are finally over. The ones this week were a lot trickier, and my last test was made worse by the marking scheme. 2 marks for a correct answer, and minus one for a wrong one. I hope I didn't get too many wrong, later score worse than someone who did fewer questions. That would be quite sad for me.

It's now time to catch up with the never ending stream of tutorials. Studying for the tests has made me neglect them. Next week is concert rehearsal, the following week is rehearsal at UCC, then it's time for the concert. After that, only 1 month to the finals :( Time sure flies in uni. Come watch the RH concert. It's unique, the only hall which produces our own concert from scratch. According to the seniors, other halls buy scripts and music and stuff. We do from scratch and it's a year 1 show. The seniors just provide guidance. That's the distinguishing factor.

I haven't had to do sets for the past week, we managed to finish everything, so can take a few days break.

All the results for the tests I took last week are already out. Made a couple of silly mistakes for cs1101, but other than that I think I've done ok. However, I'm now behind in tutorials. 2 more tests to go.

Before school started, I bought a stack of lecture pads from Popular bearing their logo. The quality of the pads are terrible. The holes aren't far apart enough, so it doesn't go smoothly into my ring file. Also, it's very difficult to tear paper out of the pad in one piece. The paper is bound too tightly, so the edge will usually tear. It looks very ugly.

I was doing my EG tutorial yesterday and getting nowhere. Feeling frustrated, I decided to vent by writing a complaint email to Popular about their lecture pads and to ask for a refund. I even took a picture and sent it to them, haha. Felt much better after that, even though I still couldn't do the EG tutorial.

Today, I got a reply from them. That was quick. Their customer service representative asked me to tell them which branch I can go to, so they can inform the store manager to give me a refund. Such good and efficient service. Now to see if they actually do what they say they will do.

Physics results were released today. It turns out that the silly mistake I thought I made wasn't a mistake after all. Will have to find out why tomorrow. Thank God.

Just took physics test on Wednesday afternoon. I didn't think it was as bad as the past year papers, but I made a really silly mistake for one of the questions. Hoping the rest aren't trick questions which I got wrong.

Had a most interesting financial accounting on Tuesday. As before, the lecturer was telling us about how accounting is actually the language of business. To prove his point, he showed the lyrics of a jay chou song and asked a student to read it out, then to translate it. His chinese pronunciation is really good, but it was much more difficult to translate it into english. Some of the phrases didn't really make sense after translation. So the lecturer told us that this shows that sometimes the meaning is lost in translation. Anyway, the song was 千里之外。 When this was done, he told the student to sing it. The guy was quick to rebut, saying as the lecturer had heard it so many times before, he should be the one to sing it. What do you know? He really sang it for us, haha, but after warning us that no one was supposed to film him and put it on youtube or something. Don't think anyone did.

Being in Sets for RH concert is like charging a capacitor. Although we've finished most of the work already, there's always more to do. Q = CV (1- e^(-t/RC)). Oops, looks like I've studied too much for physics already, haha. For those who don't know, the graph starts to flatten out near the maximum value of charge, given by the equation Q=CV.

Next test is on Saturday. Whatever happened to the 5 day work week? We even have a make up maths lecture next Saturday because one of our lectures falls on Hari Raya. Still have 2 more tests next week which I haven't studied for.

I did the session 1 paper, and it was quite tedious. The paper was quite difficult, like those from previous years. Some people say it was worse, I thought it was about the same. The answers and solutions will be available tomorrow, then we can check how we did.

Physics test is coming up. That one is really tough.

I need to sell at least 7 tickets for hall concert. $15 per ticket, $12 for the matinee show. Dates are 27th and 28th of October (Fri and Sat). 1 night show on Friday and 1 afternoon + 1 night show on Saturday. Anyone who is interested just message me or tag. Thanks.
