Interesting Google
On a whim, I googled my full name inside double quotes. Ok, a few factors led to this whim, but that's not the point. Google returned 2 results.
Here's the first one.
Chee Hui and Dwin your names are in there too, top 10 some more. Mine's far far below, haha. Never knew there was an online copy of this list.
The second one looks like the blog of a sec school friend who I've lost contact with. Going to check it out and see if it's him.
Hmm, some other stuff. Saw a report in the papers yesterday about drivers who don't give way to ambulances. An ambulance driver gave an example of a taxi driver who refused to budge. The ambulance was on the way to the airport to pick up a patient. The taxi driver thought the ambulance was joking as there is no hospital at the airport. Here's another example of someone who didn't think through this very much. Does he actually think that it's only an emergency when a patient is inside?? Or perhaps he thinks there are ambulances stationed all over Singapore, when one is needed, they can arrive at the patient's location in a minute and only after that will it need to race to the nearest hospital. Maybe he thinks they work like taxis, roving around till a patient flags them down and only then do they need to be rushed to hospital. Come on, ambulance response is a two way thing. You need to get the ambulance to the patient, then you need to get the patient to the hospital. The total time taken is what matters. People don't usually call an ambulance because they think, "I'm going to have an accident in 10 minutes, better call an ambulance down now, then it won't need to rush here." Of course, there are situations when an ambulance will be stationed near a dangerous activity, but not giving way to an ambulance just because you know there's no hospital in the airport is incredibly selfish and short-sighted.
ZQ, one of my loyal blog readers, posted a comment to the previous post. Well, other sports, especially the individual events, have targets based on the previous games which they can meet. The result taken is a recent one. Also, the return may not be immediate, but it's the long term goal we should look at, which is to reach the World Cup, supposedly by 2010 but I think the next 15 years or so would be more realistic. We need to give our young players experience to get there.
